Question asked on the Adobe InDesign Forum:
The Game is to have a standard running header first and then a “(continued)” running header on the following pages until the next standard running header.
To easily manage this matter, you will need to correctly parameter 1/ the concerned Paragraph Style [here: “Title”], and 2/ the Text Variables used [here: “continued” and “numbering”]:
• “Nested Styles” and “Grep Style” Paragraph Style Settings:

• Text Variables Settings:

• To play the “~C Change to” of the Grep Find/Change Window, copy in the clipboard the contents [“_(continued)“] of the small text box on the left side of the screenshot below:

• … and play this F/R [“Change All”]:

Find what:
(^.+?)((_\(continued\))*)$
Change to:
$1~C
Click on the pink picto (above, on the right side) to place the text to the clipboard.
It’s done! …

Last point (asked by the user): No interference with the Table of Contents.

I let you take a look at the “TOC” Table of Contents Style Settings I have defined in the sample.
